GIS & Mapping Training Videos
This page highlights a collection of training videos I have developed to support TeenMaptivists and YouthMappers in building their skills in GIS, humanitarian mapping, and geospatial tools. These resources are designed to onboard new mappers, introduce key GIS concepts, and enhance technical proficiency in mapping software and platforms.
MapSwipe |
Introduction and Demo for Beginners
This training introduces MapSwipe, a crowdsourcing mobile app that allows users to pre-screen satellite imagery for humanitarian mapping projects. This tool helps improve data quality in OpenStreetMap (OSM) by allowing volunteers to flag locations needing further mapping.
QGIS Workshop Series
This ongoing, multi-part workshop series introduces YouthMappers to QGIS, a powerful open-source GIS software. The training provides a step-by-step guide to spatial analysis, map-making, and data visualization in QGIS.
This series is great for beginners looking to expand their GIS technical skills while contributing to meaningful mapping projects.
Beginner Mapping Training
This introductory playlist, which I developed, produced, and edited, is designed for new mappers joining TeenMaptivists. Geared toward high school students, the series provides an engaging and accessible introduction to digital mapping using OpenStreetMap (OSM), helping young mappers build foundational skills while understanding the real-world impact of geospatial data.
